We built RecipeScan to be a simple, honest tool. We don't want your data — we want you to make great food. Here's exactly what happens when you use the app.
RecipeScan is operated as an independent product. For privacy enquiries, contact us at privacy@recipescan.app. We comply with, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
When you scan or upload a recipe, the image or text is sent to Anthropic's API (the makers of Claude AI) for ingredient extraction. This is a real-time pass-through:
We track the number of scans you've used (up to 3 free scans) using your browser's local storage. This counter lives only on your device — it is never sent to our servers. If you clear your browser data, the counter resets.
Paid subscriptions are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. We never see or store your credit card details. Paddle handles all billing, receipts, and tax compliance. Their privacy policy is at paddle.com/legal/privacy. When you subscribe, Paddle shares with us only the minimum needed to manage your account (email address and subscription status).
We currently do not use third-party analytics or advertising cookies. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and, where required by law, ask for your consent first.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since we store virtually none, most requests are straightforward. For anything related to payment data, contact Paddle directly. For anything else, email us at privacy@recipescan.app and we'll respond within 30 days.
RecipeScan is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the service and data was collected, contact us and we'll address it promptly.
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of RecipeScan after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
